Vote for Alumni’s Modify Watches as a Top Young Startup

Modify Watches ─ led by Aaron Schwartz and Gary Coover, both MBA 10, and Liz Callahan, MBA 11 ─ has been nominated as one of the top young startups in the U.S.

Since its launch in July 2010, Modify Watches has created customized watches for Google, Facebook, and Cal, among others. The company donates a percentage of its sales to St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County; Larkin Street Youth Services in San Francisco; and WonderRoot, an Atlanta-based nonprofit committed to uniting artists to inspire positive change.

Modify is one of 135 companies nominated for the Empact100, a compilation of the top companies run by young entrepreneurs aged 30 or younger.

The final list, to be announced this month, will be based primarily on revenue, although factors of social impact, the number of employees, popularity through voting on the site, and past media and award recognition may be taken into account.

Until the final list is announced, candidates are listed online by order of popularity. To vote for Modify Watches, visit http://empact100.com/list.php.

Individuals recognized on the Empact100 list will be invited to a Future of Entrepreneurship Summit Nov. 17 through Nov. 19 in Washington, D.C., during Global Entrepreneurship Week to be recognized for their achievements.

The competition's sponsors include Empact, which aims to alleviate poverty by empowering individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset, and the Kauffman Foundation.
