Hardage oversees all internal and external communications for the nation's largest airline based on domestic passengers boarded. The airline's more than 37,000 employees operate more than 3,300 flights daily on more than 550 aircraft among 72 cities.

In 2008, Hardage assumed additional responsibility for the airline's culture, known for its joke-cracking, casually dressed flight attendants and no-frills peanuts. "The Southwest Way" overseen by Hardage has three pillars: Warrior Spirit; A Servant's Heart; and Fun-LUVing Attitude. In keeping with its culture, the company's ticker on the New York Stock Exchange is "LUV".
